Ambhar Goddess Legend

She was a beautiful goddess, the beloved of the stars. She fell in love with a mortal man, angering the other deities. In their fury, they killed her and scattered her remains throughout the heavens. The stars mourned her, gathered her remains and placed her on earth as the magnificent plant that became known as blue agave. (This is why blue agave is shaped like a star.) But this action made the gods even more furious, and they hurled a lightning bolt down at the blue agave, setting it afire. When the flames burned out, only the heart of the plant remained, and it bled a sweet nectar. Mortals collected it, called it "tequila", and presented it as an offering to the angry gods. The gods were pleased, and blessed the blue agave and the corner of the earth where it had first grown. Dragonflies, an ancient symbol of joy and rebirth, wafted through the fields as the agave thrived. Ambhar Tequila was named in honor of this beautiful goddess, in the hopes that it will give those who sample it a taste of heaven on earth. The stylized dragonfly on the Ambhar decanter, and a smaller dragonfly on a polished nickel medallion around the bottle's neck, are further reminders of the tale of the beautiful Goddess Ambhar.
